Exclude user from backup

Post by havri »

Hello,

Is there a way to exclude specific users from jetbackup? The only thing that I saw was to go manually in the WHM interface and select all the accounts in the Jobs menu.

Is there an API call, jetcli or even a MySQL command for this?

Thank you.

Hi,

You should be able to exclude accounts through the job properties page (see attached).
JetBackup can use some more sophisticated ways to include/exclude accounts.

If you can please describe what you are trying to achieve here, I might advise on a different approach here :)

Thanks,
Eli.

Hello Elialum,

What I want to achieve is to exclude users from the jetbackup system through the jetcli utility. Some jetcli command like the one you suggested in the other forum thread:

jetbackupmanager-f12/example-of-jetcli- ... -t240.html

For example, I want to exclude only the user "myuser". What is the correct jetcli command for that?

Later edit: I forgot to mention that I already have enable the backup for all users. So basically, what I want to do is to exclude only a user out of all users on a server.

Thank you.

Hello,

So, is it possible to disable a single user through jetcli if I have enabled jetbackup for all users? Or maybe a user exclusion file of some sort. I want to use one of these features to disable backup for certain users that have exceeded some inodes limits.

Thank you.

Hi,

It's not possible through the CLI, however JetBackup knows how to disable backups for certain users that have exceeded specified inodes limits -

1. In the job settings, instead of all accounts choose "Backup rotation".
2. WHM > JetBackup > Settings > Backup Rotation Settings : Set your inode limit

You also set account size limit, whatever hits first will work.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks,
Eli.

Hello,

Thank you for your suggestion. I've just changed the settings as per your recommendation and I'll monitor the job's progress.
