configuration problem chown . csf.deny

Post by Guest » February 2nd, 2015, 7:12 pm

hi,

the module installation was fine, but a server check brings following message:

Csf Firewall
Remote file 500 Internal Server Error test: Passed
Local csf.deny write test: Failed
Local csf.deny read test: Failed
Local csf.tempban write test: Failed
Local csf.tempban read test: Failed
Apache User:
Local CSF rule list path:

To correct the csf.deny write/read error, issue the following command:
chmod 600 csf.deny
chown . csf.deny

To correct the csf.deny write/read error, issue the following command:
chmod 600 csf.tempban
chown . csf.tempban

#######

so i had a look at the server and both files was set to 600.
so maybe it´s the group..
but what does "chown ." mean?
i'm a little hesitate to start changing ownership of the files as this may break other, more vital services.

any ideas?

Hi,

Are you using "root" user to communicate with the server ?
The module just passes the info he get's from the API, nothing special. So most likely, if you are not using root user, it also won't work from WHM.

Error on 'unblock IP' page

Post by Guest » March 3rd, 2015, 4:53 pm

Hi,

I am getting an error when loading the 'unblock IP' page. The message says:

"cant connect to WHM: The requested page was not found.
Possible reasons why you are seeing this page:

A bookmarked URL may have changed since you last visited.
The URL was entered incorrectly.
The URL was entered with inaccurate capitalization (URLs are case sensitive).

Please re-check the URL you are trying to reach. (Go Back)"

Above that error message, the shaded beige area states what my IP address is and below the green bar confirms that my IP address is not blocked. The error message appears below the beige area and above the green bar.

All the other tabs are working fine and the app appears to be able to connect to the server correctly for all the other functions.

Do you know what could be the problem?

Thanks.

Pascal

Error on 'unblock IP' page

Sure, I simply had to add the IP address of the server hosting WHMCS to the csf.allow file of the server hosting my clients.

It would seem that, although a connection was made to the server and blocked IP were showing even if the IP address wasn't white-listed, it is only when the IP address was added to the allow file that this error disappeared.

Thanks. Unfortunately, that isn't the same case with me. Our WHMCS server's IP Address is already in the csf ALLOW and IGNORE files. Also verified the rules exist in iptables.

Based on the other thread, it looks to me like something within cPanel/WHM may have changed (the tweakcphulk.cgi file no longer exists): https://www.jetserver.net/forum/whmcs-c ... was-not-fo

Actually, I would like to correct my previous post, it has nothing to do with the IP address being white-listed but with the option "Also check & release from cPanel's Brute Force" being set to yes.

I must have had set the option to no when I was doing my tests and didn't realise it had nothing to do with white-listing the IP address.

If I set the "Also check & release from cPanel's Brute Force" to 'no' then the error message goes.

Sorry for the misinformation.

I can see how that would stop the error from being displayed, but it isn't actually a fix. It just tells the Addon to not try to unblock from cPHulk as well as CSF.
