Migration of backups without access for original server

Hello everyone,
I am bit new to this so I hope my question makes sense.
If I have a vps where jetbackup was being used and it was sending the backups to an offsite server via ftp.
And then we have to migrate the vps to another provider and setup jetbackup again... how can I configure jetbackup to read the old backups that were originally setup on the original vps?
--Note: without having access to the original VPS anymore, e.g. all I would have is the backup target details and nothing else.
Second question:
---------------------
If the new backup target is setup and lets assume question 1 is possible to link up to the old backups, will jetbackup show all backups (old a new ones?)
- Will it start to decomission the old ones like before? Or will it completely wipe them all out?
Hope you are able to help me answer the above.
Thanks a lot.
